Principal - English Teacher
An experienced, professional and effective teacher and leader, Wendy believes in developing learning environments that foster excellence and build positive relationships. She has considerable experience in the implementation and development of new and innovative pedagogical strategies that enhance learner outcomes and success. She has been teaching in South Auckland for more than ten years; her most recent position being Head of Faculty - Performing Arts at Alfriston College. Wendy is excited to continue her teaching and learning journey at South Auckland Middle School.
Melanie Patrix
BA (Hons – Geography), HDip in Ed, MEdL (Honours), Senior Leader - Manuka Villa, Social Studies Teacher
Melanie has been teaching in South Auckland for past 13 years and is passionate about exploring the concept of knowledge in the 21st century. She believes that developing relational and conceptual skills will encourage students to anticipate change, recognize opportunities and issues in our communities and become solution focused. Melanie enjoys travel and spending time with family and she is looking forward to being involved in the life of South Auckland Middle School
Bronwyn Evans
BSc (Human Life Science), BSc (Honours), PGCE.- Senior Leader - Rata Villa and Mathematics and Science Teacher
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Bronwyn recently moved to New Zealand after spending five years teaching in Hong Kong where she learnt a great deal about different teaching methods and approaches. Bronwyn is hoping to use her international experience for the benefit of the students and is excited to share her love of learning. In her spare time, when not studying for her Masters in Child and Adolescent Psychology, Bronwyn likes to travel and enjoys sport and outdoor activities, particularly hockey and running.
Chantelle Te Hira

Chantelle has been teaching in South Auckland for the last 19 years. This journey has given opportunities in various settings of education and has given insight into various methodologies and curriculum that support the child development across all curriculum areas. Chantelle is passionate about seeing children set goals to develop themselves academically, socially and emotionally. Her spare time, family time and adventures are treasured. Connecting with families on their journey at South Auckland Middle School is an opportunity she is honoured to have been entrusted with.

Before teaching Andrew was a Community Youth Worker for 13 years. After a 4-year stint working at an all-boys High School, it only felt right that he would enter into the realm of teaching. Andrew has been teaching in South Auckland for over 10 years and has lived in Otara and Manurewa for most of his life. In his short spell as Senior Leader -Totara, he aimed to foster learning environments that provided students the opportunity to realise their potential and their value as positive participating global citizens. As the Senior Leader - Community, he hopes to continue this mahi and help our students to build on their knowledge of themselves, of the world around them, and their aspirations as lifelong learners. This is something he knows will take the community to do and will look to our community for their wisdom and support.
